Lancang Lahu Autonomous County takes its name from the Lancang River, which borders it to the east. Nestled here is a village called Banli—or “Benefit Village,” as we prefer to call it—which is also the birthplace of the Yunlan Rainforest brand.
Situated at 22 degrees North latitude within a subtropical monsoon climate, this region is defined by rolling mountains and intersecting river valleys, teeming with abundant natural bounty. For generations, villagers have crafted spirits using ancient techniques, producing a brew that is rich, aromatic, and lingering on the palate—the perfect accompaniment for festive gatherings where people drink heartily and revel to their hearts' content.
Gin, once a hero in humanity’s battle against plagues and the Black Death, is enjoying a renewed moment of glory today. With accolades ranging from “the heart of the cocktail” and “king of spirits” to “liquid gold” and “the perfume of spirits,” it is a drink best appreciated through a personal tasting.
